You might be wondering what a rebate actually is. In simple terms, a rebate is a discount on a purchase that you receive after the fact. In this case, you’ll receive cashback (via a prepaid card) a few weeks after submitting your online rebate form.
Most of the largest contact lens manufacturers have rebate programs, and nearly all of them require you to buy an annual supply of contacts to qualify for the rebate. This rebate incentivizes you to stick to the same brand of contacts, and the manufacturers hope that it will lower the risk of you switching to a competing brand.
CooperVision is no exception. The company is headquartered in California and is one of the largest contact lens manufacturers in the world. Their annual revenue tops $1billion annually, and they are constantly innovating and working to produce leading contact lenses. In addition to the consumer brands they develop and market, CooperVision also makes private label contact lenses for large optical shops.
Their rebate programs are one of their strategies to grow market share and are a common practice among the other major makes of contacts. And these rebate programs must be quite effective because they’ve been around for a while, and there’s no sign of slowing down.

Do Online Purchases Qualify for the CooperVision rebate?
No. In theory, it’s possible to get the rebate for an online purchase as long as your eye exam receipt matches the retailer that you purchased your eye exam from (according to their customer service hotline). However, in practice most online eye exams are not handled by the retailers so the receipts won’t match. For example, I recently took a free online eye exam from a major retailer and the name on the invoice didn’t match the website.
The good news is that online contact lens prices can be much cheaper than in-store prices so you might still save more money by buying online at the lowest price possible. To find the lowest price for your contact lens all you have to do is use this site to see which site currently offers the lowest price for your specific contact lens prescription. Super easy!
